Civic Service

On Sunday 23rd November, Standon Parish Council Chairman Richard Stacey held his Civic service in celebration of the local community, which is believed to be the first Civic Service held in Standon Parish.

He said, "It was a great honour to be able to hold this Civic service to celebrate our local community and to recognise the hard work that goes on within it"

Parishioners were greeted with the 1st Braughing scout band playing before the service. During the service the choir sung a special anthem they had been practicing and the address looked back at 100 years of Parish life. It ended with a drink and cake together prepared by local parishioners. Revd David Payne (St Mary's Church) led the service, with prayers by Revd. Colin Marks (A10 Christian Fellowship).

Guests included County Councillor Nigel Brooks, Chairman of Hertfordshire County Council, County Councillor Jane Pitman, members of the Parish Council and representative from the local community Head teachers, The British Legion, Doctors, School Crossing Patrols, Scouts and those who live, work and give their time to the community.

Councillor Stacey said "The day was so special and I would like to thank all those who helped make it such, but particularly my thanks must go to Revd. David Payne for hosting the service."
